Attack power

Attack Power is the overall damage dealt by your weapons after applying the damage bonus from your armor; Armor can provide a significant bonus to attack power allowing your attacks to consistently deal more damage, and this quickly becomes required to survive against the more dangerous monsters on high tier planets.

Attack power bonuses apply to all damage dealt by the player, meaning that weapons will always be significantly more powerful in practice than their base stats would suggest.
