Liquid Erchius Fuel is a liquid found in underground caverns on moons. The player must unlock the liquid collection upgrade for their Matter Manipulator before they can gather it. Each gathered unit of liquid erchius provides 1 unit of fuel for the player's ship.

As with crystal erchius, if the player has any liquid erchius in their inventory while on a moon, an Erchius Ghost will appear and pursue the player until they leave the moon. To avoid the dangers of gathering fuel from moons, the player can instead opt to purchase liquid erchius from Infinity Express at the Outpost, or take it from the industrial canisters found in certain NPC ships, space encounters, and bounty quests.

Trivia

• Liquid erchius is the only liquid to have a sell price.
• When it touches the lava ocean at the core of non-moon planets, nothing happens to liquid erchius. All other liquids either convert into lava or evaporate.
• Despite its description as "a dangerous and volatile substance", liquid erchius has no interactions with any other liquids, nor can it directly harm the player.
