Ore is a class of materials found naturally on planets. It can be extracted through mining and refined into bars at a Stone Furnace. Bars are a main component of crafting weapons, armor, and furniture.
Ore is distributed in layers throughout planets, meaning smaller planets will have less ground to dig through to get to deeper ore.
Each ore will allow for a 'tier' of armor, weapons and furniture to be crafted that will resemble the ores appearance and share a stylistic theme.
Each ore furniture set will consist of a chair, table, switch/console, bed, light and door.
These ores can be used to provide fuel for a player's ship. Coal has more uses, including being an ingredient in torches and being able to be alloyed with weapon and racial armor ores to form stronger materials.
Weapon and racial armor ores
These ores are the primary ingredient in tiered, racial weapons and armor. All of them, once refined into bars, can be combined with coal at a Metalwork Station to form a stronger material.
Gems are a type of ore with miscellaneous uses and are used to craft various decorative objects.
These are ores that don't fit into any other category, such as the nightly build's Core Fragment, which is used solely for upgrading the player's ship.
These ores are currently not implemented in the game, and it is unknown what their uses are.
Magnetium, and Rainbow Rock can be found in this leaked image, while Sulphur and Lead exist in the game's assets but simply do not appear in-game nor have any uses.
Moonstone Ore appeared in the same leaked image but first appeared in the game's assets in the first nightly build on June 16. It is unknown whether or not it appears in-game or has any uses.
The following table shows a 3 by 3 square arrangement of each ore as they can appear ingame. Lead and sulphur, which are not implemented, nevertheless have image files.
