Colony Deed.gif

Tenants are NPCs that are spawned with Colony Deeds. They are part of the colony system described here.

Tenants pay various types of rent to the player after a certain time period. Rent must be gathered from the Colony Deed. They also provide generated quests, which can lead to tenants requesting to join the player's crew aboard their ship.

Tenants will interact with furniture objects like beds, doors and chairs, and furniture such as arcade games, bathrooms, consoles, drums, gongs, furnaces, paintings, music players, teleporters, tombstones, trash bins, and wiring switches.

Colony tags can be seen at the bottom of each object's wiki page, and are listed here.

Available Tenants

In order for a tenant to spawn there must be a floor, outer walls, and a background wall for the entire structure. On player ships the ship windows are acceptable background walls. Doors count as valid walls, so you can have tenants separated by only doors.

After those requirements are met the tenant type depends on the following objects placed. If the objects placed in a structure meet the requirements for more than one tenant type, then the tenant with a highest priority number will spawn.

Notes:

  • You can browse available colony tags here.
  • All tenants currently require 1 Light and 1 Door.
  • The number in () is how many of game boxes are required to be objects of that type in the tenant's housing. A box is the size of 1 tile, and can be seen by going into debug mode and typing /boxes.
  • If a tenant has multiple tag requirements, both tags do not have to be present on the same items. (You can have a "combat" tagged item and a separate "titanium" tagged item)
  • Most issues with tenants not appearing can be attributed to:
    • A) A missing background block (make sure to closely examine transparent blocks like windows and behind furniture)
    • B) Too many of another colony tag are overriding the tenant you want to summon. (Try removing all but the furniture tagged for the tenant you want, then re-place it after they've arrived)

Basic Tenants

These tenants can be either selected by race or have the race randomly determined -- appearances and equipment greatly vary. These tenants are the lowest priority to spawn, meaning if the requirements for any other tenants are filled they will arrive before any of these basic tenants.

Merchant inventory is unique to specific races; racial food, armor crafting schematics and furniture are available based on the race of the merchant.

  • Tip: Spawning racial merchants is a good way to get more racial furniture. See the Merchant page for a list of what they sell.
  • Chefs will sell you food items.
  • Both merchants and chefs will buy items, so this is one way to save yourself a trip to the Outpost. Unfortunately, sometimes they will walk away from you while you're looking at their items, but you can click the colony deed to call them back.

Themed Furniture Tenants

These tenants are called using themed furniture sets bought from the Frögg Furnishing merchant at the outpost. This is the same vendor who sells Colony Deeds. The available furniture set changes daily.

Rent Tables

  • The percentages of Rent are the chances of getting an item of that type. The player will only get 1 type of reward each rent cycle.
  • "Rent Timeframe" is the minimum to maximum time the tenant will have rent available.
  • Rent does not stack if not collected for a long period of time.
  • Once rent is available, the rent timer does not start again until it is collected.
  • See the Rent Tables below the tenants for what is in the "Villager" and "Merchant" Treasure pools, as well as how many pixels are given.
