Climbing

Removed: No Longer Available Climbing was removed from the game files, and is no longer obtainable. It was included as placeholder content during early access, and replaced before full release

Climbing, or moving up and down ladders as a game mechanic, was removed early in the development of Starbound. In the released versions of the game, ladders have been replaced by platforms, and the player jumps up onto platforms, or drops down from them. Only a few vestiges of climbing ladders remain in the assets.

Sprite Sheets

Sprite sheets for clothing and armors belonging to older assets in the game contain sprites for the climb pose, which appears to show the back of the clothing, sleeves, and pant legs. On sprite sheets belonging to newer assets, the sprites corresponding to this pose are usually left blank, indicating that Chucklefish probably do not intend to revisit the mechanic.

Ladder Platforms

Early versions of the game contained ladder type platforms, specifically Wooden Ladder and Copper Ladder. While most of these assets have been removed from the game, the object for copper ladders remained, albeit without any visual assets.
