Dropships are a flying vehicle added in Version 1.4.0.

Dropships are able to dispense a limited amount of capsules, providing extra benefit in acquiring pixels.

It has a possibility of appearing within a select amount of Bounty Dungeons.

Conceptual-Builds

In the concept stages of Starbound, Dropships were used as a means of transportation between planets and the player's Space Station (an earlier iteration of the Ship).

The original conceptual dropship

When Teleportation replaced the functionality of the Dropship in the Alpha, it replaced the player's Space Station from the concept. The dropship's furniture and appearance were stylized based on the player's race. As beta released, Dropships underwent a design overhaul, becoming the final ships.
