Help:Renaming Pages

Sometimes pages will need to be renamed. Many times this happens when an item name changes. Here are the steps to change the name of a page, make sure to follow each one.

• 1. Copy the page text and paste it in the new Page location
• 2. Run a 'What Links Here' search for the page. Go to each page listed here and change the link to the new pagename.
• 3. Run another 'What Links Here' search to make sure no pages still link to the old page.
• 4. Move the image file, use the convention 'PAGENAME'.png
• 5. Move the icon file, use the convention 'PAGENAME'_icon.png
• 6. Redirect the old page to the new one. Do this by replacing the old page with the info; #REDIRECT [[New Page]]
• 7. Lastly, do a final review of the new page, updating the name in the template and the article.
