Gravity Mine Mech Arm: Updates

I had tried to update this page with a more detailed description of the operation of the Gravity Mine Mech Arm. Unfortunately, there is a bug with the Mech Arms table on the Mechs page such that any edits on this page appear to cause that table to lose track of this page. Therefore, I'll make my edits here, and they can be incorporated into the article proper once that bug has been fixed by the site admins.

Gravity Mine Mech Arm is a arm part mech component that can be crafted using salvaged materials found in space encounters. The crafting recipe has a chance to be learned after finding an Experimental Mech Blueprint. Once learned it can be assembled using a Mech Part Crafting Table and equipped using a Mech Assembly Station on either or both mech arm slots.

While equipped, the player can use the Gravity Mine Mech Arm, while piloting their mech, to deploy a gravity mine once every 5 seconds. Each mine has a 10 second fuse. Triggering the arm while a mine that it deployed still exists detonates that mine immediately. When a mine detonates, it produces a gravity well at its location that lasts for 7 seconds and sucks in nearby players, monsters, NPCs, vehicles, and item drops. Enemy and neutral monsters and NPCs sucked into the gravity well are dealt 7 damage 10 times per second, incurring 70 DPS, for a total of 490 damage if stuck in the gravity well for the full duration. Gravity well damage stacks, so if an enemy is caught within multiple gravity wells, the enemy will receive damage from each gravity well independently.

The player who fired the gravity mine, and their allies, may be pulled into the resulting gravity well but will suffer no damage directly. If a player is pulled into the same gravity well as an enemy, the enemy will inflict continuous contact damage on the player.

In zero gravity, the gravity well is effectively inescapable while it is active, but enemies can shoot at players from within it. In positive gravity, the gravity well is very weak; it can pull in stationary entities but cannot stop entities from walking or jumping out of its influence.

Like other mine-type mech weapons, the gravity mine was designed for use in zero-gravity. Under conditions of planetary gravity, mines fired will be affected by gravity and will travel only a short distance from the mech arm before falling to the ground.
