Logbook

Early logbook mockup

The logbook was an early mockup for a UI window which provided information about things in the game. This could be details about creatures or objects.

In the design - once discovering something in your logbook, that entry is archived and available though the log interface at any time.

It was been stated that every object in Starbound has a log description, including trees and flowers, and the examine button in the UI would allow the player to catalog their findings.

Implementation

This feature was never implemented in game as shown, but was instead dispersed into the Inspection Tool to provide descriptions, and the collection window to track monsters, fish, and other found items.
