Solus Katana Mech Arm: Updates

I had tried to update this page with a more detailed description of the operation of the Solus Katana Mech Arm. Unfortunately, there is a bug with the Mech Arms table on the Mechs page such that any edits on this page appear to cause that table to lose track of this page. Therefore, I'll make my edits here, and they can be incorporated into the article proper once that bug has been fixed by the site admins.

Solus Katana Mech Arm is a arm part mech component that can be collected after defeating the boss Swansong. It is the only mech weapon with a power rating of 5 and is also the only mech component that cannot be crafted or purchased. This arm component can be equipped on either or both mech arm slots.

The Solus Katana Mech Arm is a melee weapon that allows the player to lunge and strike a blow causing 300 damage and strong knockback. Windup time is 0.5 seconds, the lunge and strike lasts 0.3 seconds, and cooldown time is 0.5 seconds, for a total of 1.3 seconds per strike and a DPS of ~231. Unlike other melee-type mech weapons, such as the Neo Chainsaw Mech Arm or the Energy Blade Mech Arm, there is no option for a second strike within the windup and cooldown period of the Solus Katana Mech Arm, which limits this weapon's DPS to less than that of those other "less powerful" mech arms.

The Solus Katana Mech Arm malfunctions in full gravity environments, such as planetside or in some ship or space station hangars. This is due to the blade's windup requiring that the mech's velocity vector falls below a specific threshold (magnitude == 1) before triggering the blade to swing. In full gravity environments, due to the acceleration of gravity, the velocity vector will only ever fall below this threshold at the apogee of a jump. At all other times in a full gravity world, triggering the Solus Katana Mech Arm will result in the blade activating but not slashing, and remaining stuck in the activated mode while dealing no damage to enemies. In zero-G environments, or in low gravity environments such as on moons or on some stations, the mech arm works normally.
