The Master Manipulator is the Human artifact, gifted to them by the Cultivator in hopes that they may one day unite with the other races and use the artifacts to unseal the Monolith Gate and defeat The Ruin.

The Master Manipulator appears to be an ancient device with functions similar to the Matter Manipulator, though its design is rounder and with a colour scheme that better matches other ancient items. It's likely that the device was reverse engineered and eventually developed into the Terrene Protectorate's Matter Manipulator. This connection is supported by the artifact being in the possession of the former Grand Protector Esther Bright, though the reason for her still having The Master Manipulator after leaving Earth is never explained (although a cut line of dialogue from the nightly builds of the game indicated that it was gifted to her by Leda Portia)
