Drill Mech Arm
Drill Mech Arm is an arm part mech component that does not require salvaged materials to craft. This mech component is one of the rewards of the Test Drive quest and is automatically placed into the mech's Right Arm slot at the Mech Assembly Station upon quest completion. The quest also awards the crafting recipe for this component, allowing copies to be made at a Mech Part Crafting Table.
While equipped, the player can use the Drill Mech Arm while piloting their mech to spin up the drill. After a 0.6 second wind-up, an energy cone materializes in front of the drill that deals 25 damage every 0.2 seconds to enemies touching it. Theoretically this produces 125 DPS, but enemies rarely take multiple consecutive hits from the drill because it also deals strong knockback. Although it is one of the weakest mech weapons, the drill's knockback makes it valuable as a defensive weapon, even late in the game. The drill action can be sustained indefinitely, but once released, it has a 0.6 second wind-down before it can be spun up again.
In addition, the energy cone deals 0.7 block damage every 0.15 seconds to up to three layers of blocks at once, producing a mining rate of ~6.67 block damage hits per second and a block DPS of ~4.67. For comparison, a basic Matter Manipulator has a block DPS of 4.8. Note that while the energy cone can only "target" foreground blocks, both foreground and background blocks are mined.
