The yellow flashlight is a tool in Starbound that provides a cone of yellow light from the player in the direction of the cursor. It's a yellow colored variant of the generic Flashlight provided to players in their shiplocker immediately after creating a new character.
Trivia
This item description is a reference to the
Green Lantern comic books, in which the cosmic yellow power draws its energy off of fear.
