Tell you what, if you bring me a wooden crafting table, I'll give you an iron crafting table in exchange and show you how to make one yourself! Head to the teleporter shop and use their teleporter to help you go get it faster.

Gear Up was the first quest offered when players entered the Outpost during beta. It required players gather and turn in a Wooden Crafting Table. After turning the table in players were rewarded with an Iron Crafting Table, which would automatically teach that crafting table's crafting schematic as well.
This quest was removed from the game when the game's story was overhauled in update cheerful giraffe.
