The refinery is used to produce raw pixels from ores.

Refinery is a station which refines most ores into pixel (the only ore products that cannot be refined are Solarium Stars). It's crafted at an Engineer's Table using Titanium Bars, and the refining process produces pixels equal to 50% of the pixel value displayed in the tooltip (much better than the 20% of displayed value gained by selling these items to merchants instead).
