The Earth biome is an inaccessible primary biome created exclusively for the purpose of providing a parallax for the introductory Protectorate mission. No visitable planets spawn with this biome, as well as the biome itself having no associated planet type. It's only completed up to the extent of its use in the introductory mission, as most planetary aspects are left unimplemented. While inaccessible by normal means, the use of admin commands can spawn a terraformer that has been modified to convert a planet to the "earth" biome, which will make this semi-functional biome playable similarly to other planets.

Materials

The only existing layer of the Earth biome is primarily made up of the same materials as the garden biome, consisting of dirt, cobblestone, and mud. Ores do not generate in the Earth biome, although ores generated on a planet before it was terraformed to the Earth biome will remain.

Sub Biomes

No sub-biomes generate in the Earth biome, although any such biomes that generated on a planet before it was terraformed to the Earth biome will remain.

Mini Biomes

No mini-biomes generate in the Earth biome.

Layers

As the Earth biome was never intended for use in planetary generation, no layers are defined within it. A planet terraformed to the Earth biome will retain whichever layers it had generated before being terraformed.

Weather

Weather on the Earth biome is identical to that of the garden biome, indicating that it was likely used as a template for the Earth biome.

Crops

No wild crops or seeds are present in the Earth biome.

Wildlife

No bugs or monsters generate in the Earth biome, apart from those built into the Protectorate introductory mission.

Unique Drops

Unique drops are not present in the Earth biome.

Settlements

As the Earth biome was never intended for use in planetary generation, no settlements (either friendly or hostile) are associated with it, at least in the terrestrial sense. Any settlements that generated on a planet prior to its being terraformed to the Earth biome will be retained.

Note that the Protectorate Academy generates only as part of the introductory mission.

Villages

No villages generate when Earth is the primary biome.

Dungeons

No dungeons generate when Earth is the primary biome.

Trivia

Earth is defined as a planetary "biome", which means that it can be replicated with the use of a terraformer that has been edited using the spawnitem command to have its biome parameter set to "earth" [1]. This biome is not intended for planetary gameplay.

When terraformed onto a planet, the parallax will display the pre-Ruin state during the day, and the post-Ruin state during the night. During dawn and dusk, the parallax will briefly become non-visible. On the biome's surface, the clouds layer of the parallax can be seen to be cut off, as the mission world sets the Protectorate Academy to be far above the surface of the planet.

Another oddity of this hacked biome is the high speed of the aircraft in the sky, which is the result of the introductory mission world's unusually long day/night cycle, which required the ships to be sped up to appear to be moving at normal speed. On a planet with a normal day/night cycle, these craft appear to be moving at an insane speed.

This biome lacks planetary music tracks. As such, music heard within the protectorate mission gets handeled by an internal flag, which is responsible for creating dynamic music throughout the pre-ruin and post-ruin stages.
